'Fiery' would probably be the first association that comes to mind when listening to this quartet. It was only recently that Alan, Pista and Joris began to work together as a trio and experienced an incredible musical chemistry. Wayne and Joris first met musically in 2018 and toured with "New York Jazz Partners" in 2021. For the last two years, they have been members of Vincent Herring's soul/funk band "Something Else!" and then decided to continue working with this new energetic quartet.
Wayne Escoffery studied at Jazzmobile in New York City, at the Neighborhood School of Music, and in New Haven with Jackie McLean. He graduated in 1997. From 1997 to 1999, he continued his studies at the Thelonious Monk Institute at the New England Conservatory in Boston. During this time, he toured with Herbie Hancock. Since 2000, he has collaborated in New York with artists such as Tom Harell, Carl Allen, Eric Reed, Mingus Big Band, Ralph Peterson, Rufus Reid, Ron Carter, and Eddie Henderson. Since the early 2000s, Escoffery has increasingly performed with bands under his own name.
In 2023, Alan Bartuš was the only European pianist selected for the semi-finals of the most prestigious jazz competition in the world, the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Piano Competition. Alan has also collaborated with American jazz legend Jerry Bergonzi. He has recorded and toured with renowned New York saxophonist Tim Armacosta. Alan's new albums Solology in orn and Millenium (with Gregory Hutchinson, among others) have attracted attention and excellent music critics. In 2024, Alan received the Dave Brubeck Composer and Award.
