Lecture "Turn on the feeling and extinguish addiction.-Addiction as a way of emotional regulation"
You are cordially invited to the lecture by Sara Pipan "Turn on the feeling and extinguish addiction - Addiction as a way of emotional regulation", organized by the Projekt Člověk Association, Piran Reception Center in cooperation with the Postojna City Library.
Sara Pipan holds a master's degree in psychosocial counseling, in the process of completing her second master's degree in psychotherapeutic science, and a specialist in gestalt psychotherapy under supervision. She has been working in the mental health field for over a decade; from prevention programs and work with people with intellectual disabilities to the field of addiction. For the last four years, she has been employed at the Projekt Člověk Association, where she works directly with addicts and their relatives. It works with a firm belief in the power of relationship and therapeutic contact.
When emotions are overwhelming, uncontrollable, or misunderstood, we often don't have the proper language or support to accept and process them. At such moments, various survival mechanisms can develop, including addiction, which acts as an attempt to calm internal distress and regulate emotions. In this lecture, we will explore how we shape our ways of emotional regulation throughout our lives. Special attention will be paid to the role of addiction as a silent response to the inner distress of an individual who tries to alleviate pain where contact with oneself, others and life is not safe or too painful. Together, we will look for ways to identify, understand and support the emotional challenges behind addiction and how to reconnect with ourselves and with life. The lecture is an opportunity for in-depth insight and exchange of experiences that can enrich both professional work and personal growth.
The lecture is being prepared in cooperation with the Postojna City Library.
You are invited.
