Keltska utopija / Útóipe Cheilteach

Dennis Harvey, Lars Lovén / Sweden, Ireland / 2025 / 90 minThe film tells the story of the new Ireland and its vibrant music scene, as well as a society still grappling with the consequences of centuries of British rule. The directors take us on a musical journey around the island, where we meet a new generation of folk musicians – bold, witty and politically engaged – on the streets, in pubs and living rooms. These young artists, including punks and rappers, rediscover a tradition that "has always been meant to scare clergymen and politicians" and develop it in new directions. Archival footage connects the present with the turbulent past, creating a rich portrait of a country whose colonial wounds have still not healed.
