Kako je Mambo postal velikan / Da Mumbo Jumbo blev kæmpestor

Karsten Kiilerich, Stine Marie Buhl / Denmark / 2026 / 83 min / dubbed / 5+

Mambo is a kind-hearted hippopotamus who wants to help others most of all, but almost no one notices him among the big animals. One day, he accidentally eats a mysterious mushroom and turns into a giant overnight. His home is suddenly too small, and even the simplest everyday tasks become a real challenge. In order to become the way he was again, Mambo and three loyal friends embark on a long journey to the mysterious witch Baba Yaga. On an unusual journey, they meet hardworking beavers and a helpless shark, and almost even take them into space. Mambo slowly realizes that growing up does not necessarily mean becoming bigger.

The film intertwines well-known feelings for children with an imaginary world and fairy-tale motifs. It is based on the picture book of the same name by the renowned Danish author Jakob Martin Strid, whose story was also the basis for the popular animated film The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear.
