Cristian Mungiu / Romania / 2026 / 146 minMihai and Lisbet Gheorghiu, a devout Romanian-Norwegian couple, move to Norway with their five children from Romania. They create a new home in a remote village by the fjord, where they soon become closer to their neighbors, the Halberg family. The seemingly peaceful life of the two families changes when teenager Elia Gheorghiu shows up at school one day with bruises all over her body. Questions begin to arise in the community about their origins and about the traditional upbringing that the children receive at home. Through the story of two families, Mungiu raises questions of religion, upbringing, cultural differences, and the boundaries between personal beliefs and responsibility towards others. Fjord is a family and social drama about a moment when different worldviews collide with each other and test relationships within a seemingly close-knit community.
